Montparnasse Frame
NZ$1,950
18th- and 19th-century frames were typically bright with gilding. In the early-1900s, there was a movement away from those gold frames towards softer colours that paralleled the art movements of the time.
The best of these frames were made in Montparnasses, where all the poets and painters of the day congregated. Montparnasse is very gentrified now, but if you can find the original frames, they are just wonderful.
