A Classical, French inlaid chair in the Greek manner. The front legs have excellent marquetry and the rear of the chair is decorated with a pastoral scene.
Known as a Savonarola or an X-chair, these have featured throughout history, from ancient Egypt and classical Greece to the Roman Empire, the Renaissance, and into the 19th century.
