This carpet hails from the north of Afghanistan. Made by the Hazara tribe, who settled the region in the 16th century.
Made from 100% sheep wool and dyed with vegetable dyes, it is an extremely hardwearing flat weave in a contemporary stripe.
Kilim is a term of Persian origin and means “spread out”, it is used for all the pileless flat textile carpets obtained by weaving together the warp and weft threads.
