Hazara Kilim Rug

NZ$2,950

This carpet hails from the north of Afghanistan. Made by the Hazara tribe, who settled there in the 16th century.

Made from 100% sheep wool and dyed with vegetable dyes, this is an extremely hardwearing flat weave in a contemporary stripe.

Kilim is a term of Persian origin and means “spread out”. It is used for all the pile-less flat textile carpets made by weaving together the warp and weft threads. The oldest kilim dates back to the 4th century BC.
