An Ebonised Directoire Commode
The Directoire Period is one of my favourite design phases.
This commode is so 'modern', despite being 200 years old. Its hexagonal-mounted brass handles complement the gold-edged fielded panels and simple ormolu key escutcheons.
The original Italian marble top and black lacquer finish give the commode great presence.
