Georgian Chest of Drawers

It was the late 1800s and the Georgians somehow always got it right.

This chest looks wider than it is tall and yet it is almost square - 3' x 3' in old money - and beautifully proportioned.

The earlier Jacobean chests are more ornate and the later Victorian chests are more embellished, but this is so plain with two short drawers over three graduated drawers each with swan necked handles and attractive key escutcheons. Strong bracket feet complete the very understated Georgian picture.
