Large Gold Crested Mirror

This is a very strong Louis Philippe mirror, from the scalloped carving in the crest to the engraved water gilding, it is superb quality.

Water gilding is better than oil gilding and engraved water gilding is the very best of all (and the most expensive).

The beaded inner moulding of the frame highlights the original mercury glass mirror - these crystallize and give a terrific reflection not seen in modern silver mirrors. The Rococo crest is very crisp, denoting quality.
