French Marble Topped Console

This is the real deal! An 18th century French console table.

Louis XVI, or perhaps Directoire Period, four-legged marble- topped table from a grand house in France. The legs and stretcher-base support the exquisite Italian top.

The piece's carving details are sensational. Later versions of these tables were cast in plaster before being assembled. This 18th century model has a pierced hand-carved frieze, and carved turned and fluted legs supporting a central urn with carved foliate.

These features date the piece as late 18th century.
