Long case Clock

A fantastic English longcase clock from the late 1700's

These are completely out of fashion .... but if you want one this is the one to buy

It has an 8 day movement ... so you only wind it once a week..

It is an amazing mechanism for something close to 250 years of age

It has a minute hand and an hour hand like most longcase clocks ... but this also has a second hand on a separate axis and a day /date hand also on a separate axis .... And that is not all ... This mechanism drives a 24 hour disc called a moon riser ... so during the daytime ther is a lovely Ashford country scene followed by the moon then the stars and then the sun rise and then the Ashford ( where the clock was made by Mr Snatt ) country scene reappears .... delightful!

This would have fetched $15,000 to $18,000 at the peak of the market ... Very good buying
