English Pedestal Desk

An English pedestal desk with a central drawer flanked by two pedestals of four drawers. The pedestal desks in this manner were originally made in Georgian times from 1715 through to 1840 (when they went Victorian and curly). This one is truthfully only from the first quarter of the 20th century which you might think detracts from its value, but this is not so. The later ones are taller, so we of the 6ft plus generation can get our knees under the middle drawer. This desk is unrestored and will polish a wonderful Georgian oak colour, and with the original swan necked handles all sorted it will be a great desk in the study with one of our Weatherby George bookcases. Arriving November 2012.
